Why writers should rarely name songs in their fiction.
For the names of famous aircraft, ships, and spacecraft, always use italics or underlining: ex. I built scale models of the USS Nimitz and the space shuttle Discovery last year. Sacred texts: ex. The Bible, Book of Exodus, or Qu'ran do not get underlined in the text of a paper. A specific edition would, however, be underlined in a works-cited list.
Songbook (published in the United Kingdom as 31 Songs) is a 2002 collection of 26 essays by English writer Nick Hornby about songs and (more often) the particular emotional resonance they carry for him. In the UK, Sony released a stand-alone CD, A Selection of Music from 31 Songs, featuring 18 songs.The hardcover edition of Songbook, published in the US by McSweeney's and illustrated by Marcel.
A Clash of Kings was the first book of the A Song of Ice and Fire series to make the best-seller lists, reaching 13 on The New York Times Best Seller list in 1999. After the success of The Lord of the Rings films, Martin received his first inquiries to the rights of the A Song of Ice and Fire series from various producers and filmmakers.
Book names in essays The first initials and last name of the translator and the notation 'Trans.' should then be included in parentheses. Guidelines for referring to the works of others in your text using MLA style are covered throughout the MLA Handbook and in chapter 7 of the MLA Style Manual.Both books provide extensive examples, so it's a good idea to consult them if you want to become.
Now, there are hundreds of songs out there inspired by literature in one way or another, and most of them are, necessarily, not on the below list. Academic writing citation formats (MLA, APA, Chicago and Harvard) are needed when doing in-text citations of quotes and literature paraphrased for other sources of information. However, this becomes tricky when it comes to how to cite a song in text. For instance, MLA and APA require pages numbers which are never found in songs.
